Bi-dimensional
works

Pictorial language is an universe in itself with its inherent poetry. It is the visual result of a process of reflection-intuition. The current change of meaning of the purpose of painting -it has been ornament, genre, expression- allows me to insist on this seemingly saturated language, as well as on certain backing materials and traditional techniques: acrylic paint, paper, collage, so as to adopt new ways of painting, in the context of a freer statement proposal.

Site-Specific Works and Installations

The generative themes of the works I have created until now, are the cosmos and the garden: "In the Beginning, God created Heaven and Earth" (Gen. 1.1).

The repercussions caused in us by the perception of the unexplored, and the limitless possibilities of the universe are the essence of many of the installations I have done. Beyond the scientific interest that has sent man to conquer space beyond the stratosphere, there has to be a religious energy that drives him to explore the cosmos. I associate this to the evidence of the existence of God, and also to the heeding of a childhood mandate: Touch heaven.

The works related to the gardens activate through a visual metaphorical language, responses derived from the dreamlike state that prevails in the natural spaces domesticated by man, that are oriented towards spiritual enjoyment. I am interested in the pleasurable resonances produced by the grouping of plants and flowers, as well as the romantic connotations of the theme (Gardens), which when depicted with the usual materials propitiate a paradoxical reflection on "real" nature and "simulated" nature.

Architecturally integrated works

Since 1993 the realization of several installations and "site-specific" essentially ephemeral, have gone along almost simultaneously with the exercise of artwork integration on a permanent basis, which has allowed me to work on walls, ceilings, external murals and all kinds of architectural spaces -urban or residential- with various materials: stained glass windows with lead structures, ceramic tiles, glass mosaics and tri-dimensional polystyrene elements painted with polyurethane. These integrative projects materialize my plastic research, and they become an essential part of the space for which they have been designed.
